Who are those guys?
Gallus Crows are Ronnie Corse, Gordon Andrew, Derek Lauder and Kieron Douglas. We are musicians, singers and songwriters from Midlothian/Edinburgh.
The roots of Gallus Crows lie in Loanhead Guitar Club and the Midlothian Music Sessions, where Ronnie, Gordon and Derek met and became friends. One Saturday afternoon in October 2010, Ronnie invited Gordon over to his place to try out his new guitar pickup through an amp and have a jam. During the course of the afternoon it came to light that Ronnie had been writing lots of songs. When Gordon started playing along to some of Ronnie’s songs, Gallus Crows fluttered into existence. We played a bunch of gigs in 2011 with our pal Johnny Meenan on bass and spent many happy hours rehearsing in Johnny’s attic or Ronnie’s garage.
Fast forward to March 2012... we managed to lose Johnny somewhere along the line, but with the addition of our good friend Derek Lauder on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion, Gallus Crows became a three-piece once again. More gigs followed, and then one night in September 2013 a jolly metalhead called Kieron Douglas asked if he could play cajon on a few songs at our Captain's Bar session... he ended up jamming with us all night! By the following month Kieron had become the fourth Crow, joining us on cajon, guitar and vocals.
All four Crows contribute to our growing repertoire of original material. We released our debut 4-track EP, The Langdale EP in Spring 2016 and we have a song featured on both the Captain's Sessions I and Captain's Sessions II compilations. Our debut full-length album Year Of The Crow was unveiled to an unsuspecting world in February 2019. The band are currently working on recording a new batch of original songs, which we hope to release in 2022.
